Ecologist – Polegate & remote

We are currently seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our busy Arb & Vegetation department as an Ecologist to join our busy consultancy team. This will include collaboration with site-based colleagues, and delivery of a wide variety of ecological projects for our infrastructure clients.

Due to the nature of the company, the candidate we are looking for ideally should be comfortable with assisting site teams with non-ecological tasks during busy times, and keen to “branch out”, and learn new skills.

Chaffin Works are industry leaders in the delivery of site clearance, tree surgery, fencing, landscaping, grounds maintenance and ecological consultancy for commercial and public sector clients across the South East, we are renowned for providing high quality services for our clients, having an excellent company culture and are well known for our development of colleagues.

The Ecologist we are looking for should be competent in:

· Bat emergence and re-entry surveys.

· UKHab assessments.

· ECoW for veg clearance, ground works etc with proven experience of working under license for GCN, Dormice, and bats.

· Protected species licence, or working towards.

· Advising on ecological enhancement plans.

· Safe work practices.

The ideal candidate will:

· Hold a degree in environmental sciences, ecology or conservation (or equivalent)

· Be a CIEEM member, preferably at Associate level.

· Be willing to undertake relevant medical screening (Safety Critical Assessment)

· Be an excellent communicator (both verbal and written).

· Be flexible, confident and have good attention to detail.

· Be methodical and consistent.

· Hold a full driver’s licence.

· Happy to work nights.

· Have construction industry experience.
