Navigating Your Application Process.

Advice for HE Students.

As you embark on your journey into higher education, Chaffin Works is here to offer you valuable advice to make your application stand out.

Understanding what higher education institutions are looking for can significantly increase your chances of securing a place in your desired course.

01. Course Outlines and Skills Matching.

Start by thoroughly examining the course outlines of your chosen programmes. Take note of the specific skills and qualities they seek in prospective students. Once you have identified these key attributes, reflect on your experiences both inside and outside of school that demonstrate these skills. Showcase your dedication through examples such as continuous support for a local group or charity.

02. Writing a Personal Statement.

Your personal statement is your chance to shine. In competitive courses, it can be a crucial factor in the decision-making process. Clearly communicate your ambitions and aspirations, linking them to your interests and showcasing the qualities the course requires. Avoid generic statements and use this opportunity to showcase your unique personality and passion for the subject.

03. Convincing Them to Choose You.

Explain why you are specifically interested in the course you are applying for. Link your interest to experiences, achievements, and ambitions that align with the course. For instance, if you are applying for a Catering course, highlight your enjoyment of Food Technology at GCSE level and how you create celebration cakes for family and friends in your spare time.

04. Make sure you get the support you need.

We want to help you succeed. To assist you further, we offer a CV template and a personal statement guide. Download these resources (linked below) to craft a compelling application that sets you apart from the competition.
