As our operational workload continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Works Manager/Project Manager to join our Polegate depot. This is a key leadership role for someone with a strong technical background who can manage teams, coordinate programmes of work, and maintain high standards across complex operational environments.
You’ll oversee planning, delivery, compliance and communication across multiple sites, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality service for clients and internal teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Site Planning & Scoping
- Carry out regular site visits, risk assessments and scoping reports
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to confirm requirements and assess conditions
Rota & Workforce Management
- Build and maintain effective rotas to ensure full operational coverage
- Manage holiday, sickness and staffing changes. Review and approve timesheets
- Support recruitment, onboarding and frontline HR processes
- Oversee day‑to‑day delivery to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
- Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental standards
- Resolve issues with clients and contractors
Performance & Attendance
- Conduct appraisals and support staff development
- Complete return‑to‑work interviews and attendance monitoring
Fleet, Equipment & Procurement
- Support management of plant, vehicles and equipment
- Raise purchase orders and maintain supplier relationships
Compliance & Site Audits
- Carry out site audits and implement improvements
- Monitor compliance and work with internal teams to maintain best practice
PPE, Stores & Timesheets
- Oversee PPE provision and stock levels
- Maintain accurate equipment records
RAMS
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Ensure safe systems of work are in place and followed
What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience in landscape delivery
- Strong operational leadership background
- Relevant industry qualifications (SMSTS preferred)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑moving environments
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
